BEAU STUBBY
THE STUBBY, was conceived from visions of Wayne/ Ted / MP cut downs. It was a morph of curves, combined to shrink a minimal I was riding, whilst keeping the plan shape relatively central.
Originally I pushed the wide point back to accommodate my stance on the board and used my shortboard template for the back half of the board. The bottom is rolled and has a single channel to reduce surface area.
The stubby is a good introduction to the way a single fin surfs. Single fins have different tempos/gears. They are difficult to surf coming from a thruster. If you like tuning into your board and adjusting fin placement, single fins are perfect, as you can feel the difference in every inch of fin and placement. I believe single fins are a good way of learning about surf craft, I choose the stubby for full involvement.
